Warm deep drawing process has significance for formability enhancement of light-weight engineering materials such as aluminum-magnesium alloys. For obtaining required drawing ratios in warm deep drawing process, shear bands in material must be activated by temperature effect. However, under deep drawing conditions, flange region and punch region exhibit different characteristics due to circumferential and radial stress distribution on the material. Thereby, not only heating also cooling is needed to obtain temperature gradient in concern with stress distribution. In this study, tool design for warm deep drawing process with heating and cooling units for obtaining temperature gradient on material was investigated. In tooling stage, design of blank holder, punch and die with dimensions were evaluated. Design and integration of heating and cooling system with insulation layer were discussed separately and compared with literature. According to whole design stage, obtaining temperature gradient on material under closed die conditions is effortful process and systematic design approach is needed for stable tooling and failure free manufacturing.
